It’s not often in our own little corner of the East Bay that an architectural contemporary like this one becomes available especially an REO, and when there is one, you know I’m there in a quick heartbeat. Perched high at the top of Alamo’s Roundhill North sits 504 Oakshire, all 7,309 sq. ft of it. The property is comprised of 4 bedrooms, 6 baths, a movie theater and a large bonus room, all for $2,350,000.
The home itself is an exaggerated U-shape with interior porte-cochere (motor court), which all hugs the side of it’s knoll, making the most of its magnificent views .The property practically sells itself the moment of entry with it’s floor to ceiling picture windows in every room that look out over all of Alamo. All of the interior finishes are top notch and incredibly unique, which harken to a European owner at some point in its past, with unique faucets and sinks in every bath and custom built-in wardrobes in every room. You can always tell a European homeowner when you come across a washer and dryer the size of a small microwave. One of the most unique features are the His and Her separate master baths and closets, each one independently nicer and larger than the other.
For a house on a hill they somehow managed to engineer the mountain to fit a pool which is off of the home’s large entertainment/ bonus room with pool bath and bar, all the necessities. Also on the lower ‘party’ level is the home’s private movie theater completed with red velvet and atmospheric lighting. Outfitted with all these bells and whistles made to make guest green, I can expect the home to sell in a bat of an eye to either a.) a trendy LA couple b.) A trust-fund bachelor, or c.) A Pro-ball player.
Pros:
- More than move-in ready,
-Fantastic quality finishes throughout,
-Views like you’ve never witnessed before,
-A rare opportunity to find a true contemporary in Alamo. and
-REO price: 7,309 sq.ft. for only $2,350 in Alamo
Cons:
-One thing about a house of glass perched on a knoll is that it just may bring out the inner exhibitionist within you. Honestly window treatments, unless done properly, would be a sin.
-The property shares a semi-private driveway with a neighbor that’s relatively close-by. Solution: invest in a privacy gate at the front of the property’s driveway. Because there’s all glass in the front of the house too, it will feel more cozy and private if you did.
-Only 4 bedrooms in 7,309 sq.ft of house. But if its buyers are either a,b,or c like listed above it honestly won’t be a problem…
