It’s quite a treat to find such a well designed Eichler-styled home on our side of the Bay, and this one is quite outstanding. No wonder, because it was designed by one of his very own architects. It’s a fantastic representation of mid-century design and a true gem of ours hidden away and perched high in the hills of Westside Alamo…

A fantastic architectural mid-century inspired estate, located in Roundhill, Alamo. The craftsmanship of this spectacular home is evident through it’s masterful handling of redwood throughout accompanied by floor to ceiling picture windows that fantastically meld the indoors and out. Corner windows make use of Frank Lloyd Wright styled detailing, by engineering the home to have no mullions, creating seamless panoramas of glass. This clever design seemingly makes the interior space incredibly expansive by virtually erasing the room’s corners. Quite a clever way of making an already large 6,512 sq.ft. home appear even larger…

That’s right beatles, known as the “jewel beetle” for appropriate reasons… Each and every beetle was hand glued in place with couture altier-like precision to render this contemporary masterpiece befitting to it’s exquisite context.

It’s not very often a home with this much architectural significance is listed in the East Bay. This home by Wrightian Olof Dahlstrand is nothing less than significant, in fact it’s spectacular at $2,250,000…

For those of you that don’t know of the Bay Area Architect Olof, let us enlighten you…
Prior to studying at Cornell he visited and was overwhelmed by Wright’s Taliesen home, which from then on had an obvious impact on his work. After moving to the Bay Area in 1948 he spent two years at the practice of Fred Langhurst. Yet, it wasn’t until after his eight years at Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM) where his architectural prowess was manifested. Materialized in eight homes, seven of which remain, his influence and individualism may be witnessed. Many of his design principals and applications have noticeable roots in the work of Wright and Schindler. Long and low horizontals, with distinct narratives of spatial composition and orientation are obvious examples.
